Employer sponsored migration is the biggest slice of the planned migration intake for the 2018-9 financial year. Of 190,000, the total planned intake, 48,250 places have been allocated for employer sponsored migration, which is 37.5% of 128,550 places allocated for skill stream migration. Skilled migration has been allocated with 43,990 places, which is the same number as in the 2017-8 planning levels. The Government issued 12,500 less visas than the planned skilled migration level in 2017-18. Whether a reduction on skilled migration recur in 2018-19 is a matter to be found at the end of this financial year.
